THE TASMAN SEA

We returned to the Tasman Sea at Hokitika. After a shore lunch we wandered Hokitika which is noted for its' greenstone art and jewelry. We stumbled on a bizarre store with a southwestern U.S. theme where, if you were so inclined, they were happy to ship home a cannon or sword or any number of other lethal items.

After boosting the New Zealand economy in Hokitika we left for Punakaiki and nearby Pororari National Park to enjoy the remainder of our trip.

While at Punakaiki we stayed at Punakaiki Rocks Villas. Surroundings were plush and included a view of the ocean. A novel and much appreciated feature were heated tile floors in the kitchenette area and bath.
