We stopped a bit short of the Columbia Icefields Centre for a warm-up hike partway up the Wilcox Pass Trail. The Columbia Icefield and one of the many glaciers that it feeds, the Athabasca, was visible at our turn around point. The Columbia merges with the Clemenceau Icefield spawing dozens of glaciers between them. For scale, the dark horizontal line half way up the glacier is a tour group on the ice. Unconsciously I've thought of glaciers as things of the past, grinding out the Great and Finger Lakes then retreating to "someplace." Here's that someplace.
